Welcome to PhatBUMZ!
I am Jodi and I am so glad that you have stumbled across my corner of the internet! This is my wonderful little family. I am married to a amazing man who is wise and generous and so gentle (I could go on, but I’ll stop here!) and we have one baby boy who is growing far too quickly for my liking. He is just the sweetest little guy. We share our house with 2 dogs and a cat called Abbey, Pip and Peanut.
A good introduction is a great way to become friends, so I want to tell you my story and the reason behind why I blog.
I was a teacher for 10 years before packing it in on 16th March 2016, the day before I had my first baby. It was an easy decision to make, but the reality of having more month at the end of our money – EVERY MONTH – has made it a little harder to live out. It was a decision we made with God’s blessing over us and to this day, we have had enough. Every. Single. Month. Even though we are literally thousands of Rands short in our budget. (P.S. We don’t believe in credit and don’t have any debt aside from our home and car loans.) What a testimony to God’s goodness and faithfulness!
I decided to start my blog because I wanted to help other families who believe that there is no way they can survive on one income, take the plunge and get creative with their finances, their homes and raising their children. Loving God, loving your husband, raising your children and running your home are the most important jobs you will ever have and I want to help equip you to do that job well, with whatever income you have.
So, I’m sure by now you are wondering where that name even come from? Well, in the first couple of months after I stopped working, I was trying to come up with any idea that would make us a little more money and I was going to start a small business that sold cloth nappies (I know, what an awesome name for a cloth nappy business!) and in my eagerness, I bought the domain before doing enough research! Whoopsie! So I decided to use the name for something I had wanted to do for a very long time – BLOG!
I love the adventure that God has me on at the moment I can’t wait to share the lessons I am learning with you. I really hope you will stick around and find something inspiring here!
